Our History
Faithful Since the Beginning
Metolius Friends Community Church has served the Metolius Valley for generations. Founded by settlers who carried their faith west, the congregation has always been a gathering place for those who love God and neighbor.
Rooted in the Friends tradition, we have grown into an evangelical, Bible-centered church — holding fast to the authority of Scripture while welcoming all who seek the living God.
Our Mission
Why We Exist
Preach the Word
We are committed to expository, Christ-centered preaching that opens the Scriptures and applies them to everyday life.
Make Disciples
We invest in people — through Bible study, mentorship, and small groups — helping every believer grow in knowledge and love of God.
Stephanie demonstrates her desire to follow the Lord in baptism as husband, Sean assists.
Mom, Alexis looks on as Trevor Rogers made our "Church In The Park" memorable with his baptism.
Worship & Prayer
We gather to worship the living God — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Our services include congregational singing, prayer, and the preaching of Scripture in a warm, unhurried setting.
Love Our Neighbors
We serve the Metolius Valley and beyond — caring for the poor, supporting families, and being a light in our community.
Welcome the Stranger
We believe every person is made in the image of God. Whoever you are and wherever you come from, you are welcome at this table.
Equip the Saints
We believe every believer is called to ministry. We equip and release our people to serve — in the church, in the home, and in the world.
What We Believe
Our Statement of Faith
- 01
We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible Word of God — the supreme authority for faith and life.
- 02
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
- 03
We believe Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man — born of a virgin, crucified for our sins, risen bodily from the dead, and coming again in glory.
- 04
We believe salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone — not by works.
- 05
We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, who indwells and empowers every believer.
- 06
We believe the church is the body of Christ — called to worship God, make disciples, and love our neighbors as ourselves.
Our People
Pastor Bruce & Maiza Porter
Shepherding the flock at MFCC
Senior Pastor
Pastor Bruce and Maiza Porter serve the Metolius Friends congregation with a deep love for God’s Word and the MFCC church family. Bruce is known for his expository preaching and pastoral care. Maiza, a Brazilian cattle rancher, loves the agricultural spirit of Central Oregon and brings her love for Jesus and cooking to enrich the fellowship of the church. Together, they are committed to helping people grow in their walk with Christ.
We Would Love to Meet You
The best way to understand who we are is to come and worship with us on a Sunday morning. There is no program to navigate, no dress code to worry about — just a community of people who love Jesus and are glad you are here.
