World religions are too numerous to count. Christian cults and denominations abound in the U.S. and around the globe. Why are there so many—and what are they all about?
The word "religion" is formed from Latin that roughly translates as "to bind oneself back to God."
Whether referring to the biblical account of Adam and Eve being deceived by Satan in the Garden and sinning against God, or to some other act that distanced humanity from its intended relationship with God (or the gods), all religions are attempts by human works to heal that broken relationship.
But biblical Christianity makes a unique claim through the words of Jesus Christ:
"I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (John 14:6). It's a claim that each person must address when approaching the question of where they will spend eternity.
Although many churches/religions would have you believe you can somehow do enough good works or deeds to allow entrance into heaven, God's Word clearly says otherwise: "He saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life." (Titus 3:5)
The Apostle John wrote: "These things have I written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God [Jesus] so you could KNOW that you have eternal life." (I John 5:13) Do you believe? (Adapted from Grace Press South)
Welcome
We are an evangelical, Bible-centered congregation rooted in the Friends tradition. Our faith is grounded in the authority of Scripture, the lordship of Jesus Christ, and the transforming power of the Holy Spirit.
Whether you are searching for the first time or looking for a church home, you will find a warm and genuine community here. We believe the gospel is good news for everyone, and we would love to share it with you.
Come as you are — whether you have been following Jesus for decades or are just beginning to ask questions. Our doors are open and our community is ready to welcome you.
“The Bible is the Word of God”
We hold the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments to be the inspired, infallible Word of God — the supreme authority for faith and life.
“Salvation by Grace Through Faith”
We believe that salvation is a free gift of God's grace, received through faith in Jesus Christ alone — not by works, but by the atoning sacrifice of Christ on the cross.
“A Community of Believers”
We are called to love one another, make disciples, and serve our community — living out the gospel in word and deed as the body of Christ.
